You’re free to do what ever you wish…though your background doesn’t really fit into investment banking. Why not take some courses in securities law than seek to work in an investment bank? They’re always willing to let someone try being a broker…but know this…if you’re not well connected and can’t bring in accounts that TRADE or want to be under management than you’ll be out very, very quickly. Additionally, the days of folks working in investment banking house brokerage divisions for life are LONG GONE…today most burn out or fry due to the stresses involved in handling OPM within 3-5 years. So don’t think of making a career of it. GOOD LUCK!

Yes you can work outside the legal profession.
You could apply to an investment banker for a position, or apply to any major brokerage firm for employment as a sales rep.
You would be better off finding an large financial institution that would take you into their securities divisions.
Banks & insurance companies are impressed with MBAs, whereas broker/dealers and mutual funds are more interested in your personality and background
Good luck on your hunting
