Is it legal to dye my toy poodle another color in Louisiana?
Tiger asked:
I’ve been wanting to dye my dog blue, pink, or purple. Lots of people have been dying their dog so I want to too. If it’s legal what color should I dye her?
I DID NOT ask if it was cruel and inhumane. I asked if it was illegal or what color i should dye her. I love my dog ALLOT and she loves attention so she would be getting more if I dyed her. I walk her in the park almost everyday. So hopefully she should love it.

It is legal to dye your pet in all 50 states ASSUMING you use pet-safe dyes. Be sure to contact your vet to ask for a list of these. Have fun!

Does your poodle mind walking around being stared and pointed at?
Would you go and jump off a cliff if every one else did it too?
Just leave her the colour she is.

Abby, You’re wrong! It is ILLEGAL to dye to your pet’s hair in Colorado. Haven’t you watched the news lately? A lady was fined for breaking statutes against coloring or “dyeing” pets.
On to the question, why would you want to dye your dog? Just because everyone else is doing it, that doesn’t mean you should. Coloring your dogs hair for YOUR amusement and pleasures is cruel and unnecessary. It’s a living, breathing creature, NOT a hard boiled egg.
It’s not cute. It’s not fun. It’s inhumane.

jesus people, it’s not cruel or inhumane. Not feeding a dog is cruel. Beating a dog is cruel. Not grooming it and allowing it to get matted is cruel. Making it live in a filthy garage where it gets covered with ticks is cruel. I could go on and on because I’ve seen it all.
People that dye dogs are generally the same people that baby their dogs, make sure they eat the best foods, groom them regularly, and all around care for them the way they should. The dog doesn’t care, or even notice what color it is, and in fact probably loves all the extra attention it gets.
As far as Louisiana law goes, I don’t know. But I do know that purple is my favorite color. Try to not dye the whole dog though. I think it looks nicer to just add a touch of color, like to the ears and tail.

I don’t know about Louisiana, but it’s legal in Alabama. It’s not something that I would ever do (but, I also don’t forsee the possibility of body piercings for me, either). Lavender would be pretty, though.

I live in Louisiana and I don’t think it’s illegal to dye your dog’s hair, but if you want to double check I found this website that may can answer your question

Don’t do it. It’s cruel. Make sure that, if you must, you use something non-toxic to dogs.
