What happens when a Lawyer calls you for an unpaid credit card?

Imdatchick asked: I have stopped paying on a credit card. I just don’t have it right now. All of a sudden I get a phone call from a lawyer. What does this mean. Should I talk to this person.
Are they going to try to settle the account, or send me to jail.
