Byron N asked:
I have had my mind set on becoming a lawyer since I was little but I am beginning to second guess it. The reason being is that I dont know if I have interest and what it takes to become a good lawyer. Can anyone tell me characteristics that make up a good lawyer.

You must be very thorough and good attention to details. In other word, very very observant and meticulous.

If you are referring to a criminal defense lawyer, then you have to be able to put aside your feelings about the client being guilty or not guilty. Because your job will be to defend the civil rights of the accused person, not the fact of whether he or she committed the crime. For example, if a person commits a crime but the law enforcement violated his civil rights somehow, such as not following procedure correctly, it could cost them the trial. The criminal walks free because his civil rights were violated even though he may have raped or murdered someone. You have to live with that.

ambitious, charasmatic, quick-witted, efficient, thinking outside the box, able to put oneself in another’s position, intelligent, unrelenting, sympathetic, honest, willing to take risks, and must seek justice at all times. that’s who i would want to protect the world from crime.
