Raccoons are not meant to be domesticated animals. They are wild animals and are NOT meant to be pets in someones home as a cat or a dog is. The states that ban raccoons as pets are smart, and they realize that wild animals should not be held captive by people.

We shoot raccoons where I am from. The kill our turkeys , attack our cats and ransack garbage cans. They are pests.

Well I’m not sure why they make them illegal, but I do know they are very mean and hate cats. They also carry lots of different diseases like rabies.

They illegal in some states because raccoons are wild animals and unless they are debilitated and unable to survive in the wild, it’s cruel to keep them as pets. A wild animal will always remain unpredictable, whether they’re raised as a pet or not.

It depends on the history and the odds of rabies in that state
